Beach Goth, two words that may seem to not go together, are the same two words making a huge deal this year. Beach Goth is an annual music and arts festival taking place in Orange County, California October 22nd - 23rd, 2016. Beach Goth originated as a form of music genre used to describe the sound of Southern California based The Growlers.
The Growlers are a unique psychedelic/indie garage group that have paid their dues for almost a decade now. Touring around the globe and making an impact on the youth with their unforgettable music has brought the band an immense amount of success in the underground scene. The Growlers simply do their thing. They have created a mixture of Spanish, Chinese, and American culture that influences the music and vibe of each live performance. From the tunes they produce to the dapper outfits they often wear, these guys have 100% succeeded on being WHO THEY ARE.
The Growlers are on the verge of releasing their fifth studio album titled City Club on Friday September 30th under Cult Records. You can listen to the first two tracks from City Club on all streaming services and pre-order the album here. The new record was produced by Julian Casablancas of The Strokes along with Grammy-winning Shawn Everett, who both have created tremondous impact on the music we listen to today.
Now since Beach Goth has been used a number of times to describe the mysterious sound of The Growlers, they decided to host and curate their own event about it! Beach Goth originated at The Observatory Grounds in Santa Ana, California. After the fourth annual party, they decided to go ahead and move the event not too far to the beautiful Oak Canyon Park, still located in Orange County.
Beach Goth is an event celebrating equality, music, love, arts, and being yourself! As avid fans of The Growlers, it's amazing to see their movement grow larger each and every year. Beach Goth will be hosting the fifth annual extravaganza for two entire days and the lineup is to die for. First off, it's refreshing to see the great Eric Andre of Adult Swim's The Eric Andre Show hosting the entire shibang. Headliners for this year's party include Bon Iver, Justice, The Growlers along with many renowned artists that fit these guys' steez to the tee. We're beyond happy to see James Blake, Violent Femmes, Gucci Mane, RL Grime, TLC, Nicolas Jaar, Reel Big Fish, The Drums, XXYYXX, and recently added Unknown Moral Orchestra and Grimes on this stacked lineup! Take a look for yourself below.
The new location Beach Goth takes place in does not provide camping arrangements so be sure to have your plans ready to go...... or you can just wing it like the rest of us. You can expect to see exclusive related art, a larger audience, different staging arrangements, interactive attractions, drag races, a Doors late night experience, Dub Club Island and to be honest an entire new experience happening for the first time this year at Oak Canyon Park!
As you can see Beach Goth has a vast amount of attributes that can make anyone interested in what it's about. We think attending this year is a no brainer but if you can't make it, keep an eye out because this may be a festival for you in the near future. You can purchase your 2-Day General Admission tickets for as low as $150 or even upgrade to include a Majid Jordan After Party here. For all of your VIP and Single Day ticket information you can check out what your options are here!
