Elliott Smith

Watch DIIV Cover Elliott Smith

New York City based psych band, DIIV, has recorded a live cover track with our friends at Hero Magazine. DIIV has always been a group that will make it a point to tribute Elliott Smith. The lead singer, Zachary Cole Smith actually owns one of Elliott's original acoustic guitars the legend used to perform with.

DIIV covered one of our all time favorite songs "Ballad of Big Nothing" which appears on Elliott Smith's fourth studio album Either/Or. Watch the exclusive acoustic take of the iconic track below.

Celebrate Elliott Smith's Life Today

Elliott Smith, we miss you. The celebrated folk-punk singer/songwriter Elliott Smith was officially introduced to the world in 1997 with his single "Miss Misery" that was nominated for an Academy Award in the iconic film, Good Will Hunting. Elliott was made to be a Portland native where he first began his path in music.

Smith began his solo career in 1994 while being supported for his music by independent record labels. In 1997, DreamWorks Records signed Elliott Smith where he recorded the albums 'XO' and 'Figure 8'.

It is very unfortunate to say that we lost Elliott Smith twelve years ago today, October 21st, 2003. We remember Elliott on this day for dedicating his life for the love of music and the arts. We celebrate his life for not only being an extraordinary artist but a wonderful person inside and out. Rest in paradise Elliott.
