Be Above It

Tame Impala's 'Lonerism' Released Five Years Ago Today

Renowned Australian psychedelic rock group, Tame Impala, released their second studio album, Lonerism, exactly five years today ago via Modular Recordings. These guys have moved us beyond belief and have personally shaped many of our group's lives to this day.

It's hard to believe Lonerism released only five years ago, because I am certainly for one still fully invested in the future based production, experimental sounds, and the catchy simplicity this album is heavily known for. The man behind the music is lead guitarist and singer, Kevin Parker, who personally produced the entire album on his own making a huge impact on what is possible in today's music industry.

Kevin's ways of bending the rules is what put Tame Impala on the global map with a complete DIY mentality, with hit songs including their first international single "Elephant". Soon after this day five years ago, artists from all necks of the woods began to take notice that Tame Impala was certainly a truthful way of expressing a love for music from legends such as Paul McCartney, David Bowie, Ringo Starr, Arcade Fire, Jack White, along with almost every name in the book.

Although Lonerism released October 5th in Australia, the U.S. release date was indeed today October 9th, 2012 leaving a legacy of opportunity for themselves and many new artists alike. Currently, the genius behind songs like "Be Above It", "Mind Mischief""Apocalypse Dreams", and "Feels Like We're Only Going Backwards" has producer credits for your favorite artists including Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Mark Ronson, Run The Jewels, Solange and so many more.

Celebrate your day with Tame Impala's Lonerism and if you haven't had the pleasure of giving this glorious record a listen, now is the perfect time! Currently Tame Impala is taking a well deserved break in the process working on their upcoming fourth studio album.

Happy Fifth Birthday Lonerism!
