The Velvet Underground will be releasing a complete box set of new recordings on November 20th, 2015. The collection includes many unheard versions of tracks such as "Sweet Jane", "After Hours", and "Some Kinda Love", along with many others.
The new complete box set will include a four-disc set of live recordings from the 1969 residency in San Francisco at a venue called, the Matrix. The Matrix was a pizza parlor that turned to a concert hall venue by Jefferson Airplane's Marty Balin. Here, The Velvet Underground played for a total of 18 nights and lucky us a whole lot of the shows were recorded on a four-track recorder. The box set spotlights two specific gigs held on November 26th, 1969 and November 27th, 1969 which was Thanksgiving.
The Velvet Underground: The Complete Matrix Tapes can be a great upcoming gift for your friends or family as well as a fine gift to put on your own holiday list.
